I walked with them into the medical bay where the ever-present Doctor Adwani was once again sitting behind her desk. “Have a couple of patients for you, Doctor. Bill you know, this is Cindy Todd.”

She nodded. “Nice to meet you, lie down, please, Cindy. Bill, I assume you can wait?”

He nodded. “Just a bullet hole.”

She rolled her eyes and helped Cindy onto one of the exam beds. After she removed the bandage I’d applied, she turned and stared at me. “I assume you were in charge of whatever caused this?”

“You wanted a hospital, we got you one.” I shrugged. “Nothing comes without a cost, Doctor.”

“It’s not that bad, really…” Cindy said.

“Wait until the adrenaline wears off,” Doctor Adwani admonished.

“I’ll leave you to it, I have a few things to take care of.” I turned and left before she could object. I really didn’t have anything urgent, I just felt like I needed to be out of there. I couldn’t let emotions cloud my judgement in this Fallen World.
